April Favourites 2014

Hi Guys,

I don’t have too many favourites this month for a couple of reasons. I’ve been on holiday for the past two weeks so I’ve not tried too many new products. I’m also on a spending ban – my spending was getting way out of control and I have the most amazing summer lined up so I need to be more serious about saving. I had originally banned myself from makeup and clothes, but ended up buying some new clothes a few days later (no regrets). I have however stuck to not buying makeup, as hard as it’s becoming. The deal with myself is that I’m not buying any new makeup unless essentially needed (ie my powder has just smashed) until I go to New York. That’s so I can actually use up stuff I own to go on a guilt free make up splurge in the Big Apple.

Anyways, down to my few products.

Tesco Beauty Nail Polish Remover Pads
I’m so surprised these have made it into my favourites. I’ve always been very sceptical about remover pads after trying a few and they just didn’t do the job properly. However, these are a total exception. I picked them up on a whim wanting to give remover pads one last go to take away with me and I’m glad I did. It took me one pad for each hand it took all the varnish off. It left my nails slightly greasy but I think all remover pads do so a quick hand wash after removal is needed. I can’t remember the price exactly but they were around the £2 mark for 15 pads so it’s an amazing price to take travelling.

Essie Bikini So Teeny
I can’t remember if it was last summer or the one before when this colour was all the range but ever since it’s been a firm favourite colour in summer or winter. It’s such a gorgeous blue with a slight shimmer running through it. The Essie formulation is one of my favourites and they last so long on my nails. I wore this on my toes for my holiday and it’s currently gracing my fingernails. I can’t get enough.

Alien Perfume
This has been a favourite perfume for years, without ever owning it. Whilst still at school one of my friends had it and I fell in love with it. In my first year of uni one of flatmates had it and I always knew when she’d left the flat by the trail of scent left down the corridor. Through all my years of loving it I’d never had it for myself. In February my grandparents who live abroad came to visit and when they asked what perfume I’d like from duty free this was first on the list! I don’t wear it every day as I like saving it for nicer occasions rather than just a day at work. The description online is a rich floral amber containing jasmine sambac, cashmeran wood and white amber. If you’ve never smelt this perfume (which I highly doubt) go smell it!!

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Coral Reef
I’ve had this lipgloss for a while but it ended up at the back of my collection. I thought taking a coral away with me would be perfect for nicer weather and I was right. I wore this lipgloss most evenings of my holiday as it went with practically every outfit. It has a beautiful sheen and isn’t too sticky. An added bonus is that these lipglosses contain SPF15 which is always great. It’s not as long lasting as I’d like it to be but it’s never a pain to apply more lipgloss.

What were your favourites this month?

Blame it on the Beauty Bloggers #1

Hey Guys,

I thought today I’d talk about something that if you’re reading this post, are probably guilty of. Being enabled by beauty bloggers.
I mean...come on, we choose to read posts about all different sorts of products so it’s impossible to let some slip under the radar without wanting to try them all some.
It’s always a test for me to see how long I can go before I cave, or sometimes not cave at all...I’m talking to you Urban Decay Naked Basics palette that I’ve wanted forever but I’ve not allowed myself to buy it (anyone want to send it to me as a gift? I kid I kid.....not).
So I thought I’d show you some products that are on my wishlist due to fellow bloggers, that I may or may not own one day.

Nars Eyeshadow Duo in Cordura
The lust for this product comes from Tiffany on Make up by Tiffany D, and it’s due to this video. The smoky eye she creates with this duo is absolutely gorgeous and suitable for both day and night. I’m 95% sure I already own colours very similar to this in other palettes, but that 5% of being unsure just means I need to own the duo, right? I did almost cave and buy this a few weeks ago whilst I was in Space NK but I resisted. I have agreed with myself (after an ongoing internal debate) that I’m going to treat myself to it when I go to New York in July as it’s $35 in America and £25 here. The current conversion rate means I’d get the duo for just under £21. £4 doesn’t make a huge difference so I could technically buy it here but as I’ve wanted it for a while, I think it’ll make the purchase more special as I’ll know it came from New York (which was my 21st birthday present).

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
This comes from a few different bloggers, especially Vivianna Does Makeup and Amelia Liana. I did recently buy Amelia’s dupe suggestion of the L’Oreal True Match foundation, which I love but the Armani version doesn’t contain spf which is what’s making this still appear on my wishlist. All of my foundations contain spf which really annoys me on nights out, as I always look paler on my face with the flash. However, I’m currently very happy with the foundations I currently own so I don’t see myself caving to this anytime soon, especially with the £35.50 price tag.

Pai Rosehip Biogenerate Oil
I had briefly heard about this through Vivianna Does MakeUp in this post (do you get a current theme here about how much I love her blog?) but then Kate from Ghost Stories did a full, detailed post on it here and the next thing you know, it’s added onto my wishlist. I always had this idea in my head that I couldn’t use oils as I have oily skin but how wrong I am. I received a mini Balance Me radiance oil in a Glamour Latest in Beauty Box back in November and I love it. However, Kate’s review of the Pai oil is making me want to try that one instead of purchasing another Balance Me oil. The reason this is ranking so high on my wishlist is due to the fact that rosehip oil is meant to help with scars. Years of acne (although now fully cleared up) have left dark scars across my cheeks. Without wanting to sound big-headed (if that’s the right word for it), I’m so happy with how roaccutane left my skin, that in my eyes it’s pretty much perfect, except for the scars. So if this product would help reduce them, then I’m all for it. It’s £20 for 30ml but Kate said she’d used it for almost a full year until it ran out, so not bad going.

Lanolips Banana Balm
Trying any lanolips product has been on my list for a while, but this one edges over the others. I heard about this product through Fleur from Fleur De Force in this post. It’s a 3-in-1 product so it’s a lip protectant, lip conditioner and a lip lustre (which according to Fleur gives a lovely subtle shimmer). I’m a massive fan of bananas – the smell and the taste. Artificial banana scents are one of my favourites, but from reading this post from Ruth from A Model Recommends, it isn’t an artificial scent as the product actually contains banana extract. Another one to add to the list at only £8.99.

There is loads more items I could include in this post but I thought I’d share my tops lusts first. Would you like to see more posts on items bloggers have made me want?

Spring Fashion Haul

Hi Guys,

I've got a fashion haul for you today so you can look at some of the items I've recently bought for my holiday (which I'm currently on) and general spring back in England!

I bought the dress on ASOS but it's from the brand Glamorous - £19.99

This slouchy cropped boyfriend tee is perfect to pair with high waisted shorts - £8

The Playsuit is from the brand Oh My Love and it's absolutely gorgeous - £30 (I think, can't remember sorry!!)

Matalan have been on top form recently and this lip print cami is no exception - £6

I thought this star print t-shirt was really cute to wear to the beach etc - £6

H & M
Although a long sleeve top doesn't seem to fit for spring, this is really light weight and the lace print down the middle is really pretty - £14.99

I always think stripes ooze summer, is that strange? I'm planning (will have already happened) to wear this jumper to travel in as it's really slouchy and comfy - £14.99

I love the colour of this crop top - £3.99

I love wearing maxi dresses, they are so easy to wear and style - £10

Slightly creased as I've worn it and haven't ironed it yet, but I this lilac top is so pretty - £12

They look slightly stretched as I wore these when I went to Liverpool for the day. We did so much walking and they were so comfy, so these are definitely going to be handy - £4 (I think)

Have you bought anything nice recently?

Hand Luggage

Hi Guys,

Another holiday post (sorry!) but I'd thought I'd show you what I consider to be essentials to go on the plane with!

Obviously you need your passport and boarding pass but these are the entertainment and beauty items I'm taking with me.

I'm taking a neck pillow as I have a night flight so this will help me (try) and be comfortable to get some sleep, along with some fluffy socks which are super cute with the little penguin faces on the side.

I'm have a Glamour Magazine subscription so I put this months edition away to save to take away with me, and I also have my Kindle which I have loaded with new books for the beach.

Even though I'll probably buy food in the airport I've got some chocolate just in case I get peckish before I have chance to buy something.

All the other items go in my clear plastic bag to get through security so they're all 100ml or less:

Bioderma Sebium H20 Water (mini)
La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo+
La Roche Posay Effaclar H
Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream
Origins Drink Up Intensive Mash (in the little clear pot)
Nivea  Smooth Nourishing Hand Cream
Bath & Body Works Hand Sanitizer in Fresh Picked Farmstand Apple
The Body Shop Eau de Toilette in Coconut
Blistex Intensive Moisturiser
Escentual Nail File
Kleenex Shine Absorbing Sheets

Some Plasters
2 Cotton Pads
Travel Mirror

What are your flight essentials?

Packing Tips

Hi Guys,

I’m super excited to say that my next few posts will all be travel related because on Sunday I’m off on a family holiday for two weeks. Two weeks booked off work to not have to think about anything except relaxing (but feel sorry for my sister, her hand luggage contains revision stuff for her GCSE’s)!

This first post is all about my travel packing tips. I do think I’m quite good at packing; I never pack too much or never pack too light. When I go on holiday with friends, they end up having a suitcase of clothes they don’t get round to wearing but I always wear most of clothes.

Choosing what to wear
I always start with making a packing list (maybe this is where my organisation starts to get too much). It lists everything in categories and how many I need of each thing. I'll write down specifics for my toiletries but for clothes etc the list will just say, for example, Tops (8). This is then where the fun starts and I go through all my wardrobe and start trying on various outfit combinations and end up with items for each category that could go with numerous other things in my suitcase – mix and match is where it’s at.

Even though I do make my own packing list, I do like to refer to ones other blogger’s have created. Like this one  from Emily at Cupcakes and Cashmere and this beauty product one with a video to go with it from Anna at Vivianna Does Makeup.
I’ve also recently stumbled across this website and although it doesn’t help me with this trip, I can see it being handy for future trips. They have packing lists for places all over the world, and if a sneaky trip to Thailand in September that’s currently in discussion with the girls happens then I’m coming here first!
Pinterest is also a great tool to use (especially these pins) as I have no shame in saying I’m absolutely obsessed with Pinterest!

Packing the clothes
This is the first holiday I’m going on with a suitcase that’s actually mine and not a family one, as I got a new suitcase in December.

I really like how there’s the zip component in the middle to split the suitcase into two, to make it more organised. I’m planning on packing my underwear in the zip component to keep it all separate and then split my clothes and shoes across the case.
I always roll my clothes to a: fit more in (if needs be) and b: help reduce creasing as much as possible.

I am going to do separate posts about the beauty products I’ll be taking with me, but I recently bought these new toiletry bags from Tesco, all 3 for £5 – bargain!

I only bought it really for the smallest one to be my carry on clear bag (it fits in with airline regulations) but the other two are perfect for my make-up and toiletries.

Another cute little bag is this one from Primark.

There was no necessary reason to purchase this as your bikinis are obviously ok to just place in your suitcase, but who can resist a cute little bag for your bikinis?!

For my Jewellery, I put it all in a random bag but a tip I learnt through YouTube is to hook each necklace you take through a straw. It stops any tangling so you don’t have to start undoing loads of knots when you want to wear a necklace. You can make the straws shorter/longer depending on the size of the chain.

Do you have any great packing tips? Share away!

Urban Decay Shattered Face Case

Hi Guys,

I thought I'd do a little post on a new product I received from one of my friends for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. It's not a review as I haven't used it yet, just a summary of how gorgeous this palette is.

It's the Urban Decay Shattered Face Case and has two layers. The first one being 5 shimmery eyeshadows and a 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Zero, with a large mirror on top.

Eyeshadows L-R: Shakedown, Remix, Nameless, Minor Sin, Bleach

The second layer contains 2 blushes and a highlighter along with a Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Colour pencil in Lovechild.

L-R: Overexposed (Blush), Temper (Blush), Glint (Highlighter)

The palette is perfect as it's everything you could need in one case, so it's definitely coming away with me when I go on holiday on Sunday!

Eyeliner in Zero and Lipgloss in Lovechild
I just wanted to share how beautiful it is and to say a big thank you to Shanelle (if you're reading which I'm sure you are) for such a gorgeous present!

I'd love to know your opinions on this face case?

March Favourites 2014

Hi Guys,

Sorry for a late March favourites as this past week has been crazy, but better late than never!

Bourjois CC cream
Recently this base has exploded over blogs/youtube and I tried to resist, but typical beauty blogger I couldn't! I have the shade 33 Rose Beige and it suits me perfectly. This base is so light yet covers everything it needs to cover. It's really long lasting, even towards the end of the day when I get more oily. The base it's self is very liquidy when it comes out and a little goes a long way.

Soap and Glory The UltiMelt
This is a hot cloth cleanser that I thought I would give a try as again, recently Soap and Glory skincare has been everywhere. I really love the cleasner, I use it twice a week and I feel that that's enough to leave my skin feeling really clean and soft. It rubs in really nicely and has a soft scent that I can't put my finger on but I like it.

Maybelline Elixir in Mauve Mystique
I'm not going to go into too much detail about this as a review is on the way, but it's a gorgeous lip product that my sister picked up for me whilst she was in America. I can't wait till I go in July to pick some more up, unless they get to the UK first - hurry up!!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in Bronze
I've had the nude version of this eyeliner for a while and it's an everyday staple so I thought I'd give another colour a chance. I've been wearing it every day smudged across my lower lash line and it gives a really subtle everyday smoky eye which is perfect for work! It's super long lasting and doesn't budge once it's on.

Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer
I have this duo in medium, with one side being the under-eye brightening concealer, the other being the face concealer and the setting powder underneath. The under eye concealer is absolutely amazing and covers my lack-of-sleep bags perfectly, with the setting powder keeping it in place. The face concealer also covers my acne scars amazingly aswell. This is such a fab duo and so compact to carry around to top up throughout the day.

What have your favourite products been this month?

My 21st Birthday

Hi everyone,

Firstly I know there has been a lot of lifestyle posts in the past two weeks but I've just had stuff I wanted to say. If that's not really your cup of tea, there is a lot of beauty posts coming up so stay tuned!
Secondly, if you're coming from me advertising on Cosmetic Crave, then welcome to my blog!

On Sunday 30th March it was my birthday, but as you can see from the title of this post it wasn't just any birthday, it was my 21st! It's strange that turning 21 is still such a big thing as we don't 'get the key of the door' any more, but I'm not one to ruin the party so the bigger the birthday the better!
I thought I'd just show you some pics from my weekend and some of the amazing gifts I got :)

On the Saturday night before my birthday, I had my birthday party. It started at my house with a bartender coming for pre-drinks and then we headed on into town to bring in my birthday.

Opening the present from my best can see what it is later!

It was such a fun night but boy did I feel it on Sunday! The clump of photos from the club just sum up how me and all my friends felt on Sunday morning, if only you could see them ;)

In terms of presents, I was absolutely spoilt rotten.
The biggest one from my parents (aside from the party) I already knew about as it was booked a while ago, but on the 2nd July I'm off to New York!!!

I'm going with a friend from uni and I'm now counting down the days. I've already planned that July is going to my America month on my blog, so stay tuned....or follow me.
My sister's also got me a Macy's vouchers to treat myself to something whilst I'm there. I already know what I'm planning on treating myself too, so again - stay tuned!

From my best friends (who again spoilt me rotten) I got a Michael Kors purse! I was in shock when I opened it and they picked the perfect colour. They also got me a little box (in the shape of a present) of m&m's, which I'm munching on as I type this.

I got lovely gifts from all the rest of my friends too including body products, make up (of course) and shopping vouchers!

This smells so good!
Urban Decay Shattered Face Case
Eyeshadow Shades L-R: Shakedown, Remix, Nameless, Minor Sin, Bleach
L-R: Overexposed, Temper, Glint (Highlighter)
I had the best weekend over but it was over way too fast!
