Roaccutane Diary 2013: March

Welcome to my third installment in my Roaccutane Diary! You can read February's post here!

Week 5
I've had my first week on my new dosage, and seem to be coping well with it so far! My lips haven't got dramatically worse, but I did have quite a lot of breakouts whilst my body adjusted to the new strength.

Week 6
My skin adjusted to the new strength this week, and has been slowly getting better! I don't have much else to say about this week, as my lips haven't got any worse as I'm keeping on top of them with my lip scrub and constant lip balm applying.

Week 7
This week has been amazing! I've received so many compliments from my friends about how great my skin looks, and I've been loving it. Towards the end of the week, I got a few little spots but nothing major.

Week 8
This week has been quite difficult. I've been ill with a flu/cold and my lips have suffered for it! No matter how many times I scrub or apply lip balm they aren't in a fantastic condition right now which annoys me as I've managed to keep them relatively smooth for the majority of my time on the medication. However, my skin has been better than ever and I am absolutely loving it!
Week 9
I've just come back from the hospital and everything is going great, my medication has been upped to 60mg! So I've got quite a few spots whilst my body adjusts to the new strength!

Stay tuned for my April Roaccutane Diary

My Lip Saviours

As you will know if you a follower of my blog, I am currently on a medication called Roaccutane which is an extremely strong medication for acne. You can read my first two Roaccutane diaries here and here.
One of the common side-effects to this medication is dry and flaky lips, so this post is about my lip saviours to keep my lips as smooth as possible.

When I am getting ready in the morning I apply the Blistex Intensive Moisturiser which is my absolute holy grail lip balm, I always have one on me!

Then, through out the day, the Nivea Hydro Care and Rituals nourishing lip balms, live in the pocket of my leather jacket (which I wear pretty much every day). When I feel I need to apply something on my lips, I pop on which ever lip balm gets brought out of the pocket.

When my lips feel really dry throughout the day I'll apply the Blistex again, and when I'm at home my Blistex gets carried around with me more than my phone!

In the evening before I brush my teeth, I apply the bubblegum lip scrub which smells divine, and scrub off any flakes that may be on my lips. I then apply the La Roche Posay Cicaplast as my night time lip balm (I have them in little sachets as I got free samples from a dermatologist).

These lip balms altogether, have helped keep my lips in the best condition they can be giving the circumstances. Although, I do still have very dry lips, I can keep the majority of the flakes away so they don't look that bad!

February Favourites 2013

It's been a while since I've posted since I've been very busy with uni, but I'm back with a Feb favourites!

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer - dark spot correcting
I originally bought this primer as it's oil free, and as I'm on Roaccutane I am not allowed to use oil based liquids on my face. This primer in combination with the fact I'm not producing oil due to my medication means my make up stays on for hours and hours! Recently in hot, sweaty clubs my friends make ups were coming off and mine did not budge, it was unbelievable!

OPI original nail envy
After hearing rave reviews about how much this transforms your nails, I needed to try it for myself. I've been using this for just over a month now, and my nails have been stronger than ever! They used to flake very easily before but now they are extremely hard. I apply it as my base coat every time I paint my nails (which is often).

MAC Blush in Prom Princess (Archie's Girls Collection)
This blush looks very scary in the pan as it's such a bright pink but it can be sheered out to look really natural on the skin, giving just a light pink glow. I've been reaching for this pretty much every day this month!

Natural Collection Eye Shadow in Crushed Walnut
I normally wear pencil on my eyebrows but have been reaching for this a lot this month as a more natural eyebrow, as pencil can look very strong. The colour matches my eyebrows perfectly!

Maybelline The Rocket Volum' Express Mascara in Black Waterproof
I'm normally a big fan of layering my mascaras but this month I haven't needed too. Ever since I bought this (see haul here) it's the only mascara I've been wearing (my holy grail as been pushed aside...for now). I got the waterproof one so it would last longer and even though it's a pain to get off, my lashes stay full looking all day!

Nip + Fab mango smoothie body butter
I bought this just before Christmas in a set of 3 mini body butters from Sainsbury's for £3 (bargain). The mango one is my favourite scent from the pack, and this body butter is so lovely to apply. It's not too thick but I can feel it doing it's job, and after I apply it I can't help but sit for a while and smell myself, it smells SO good!
